Tips and Tricks

  • Always wash painted and designed textiles inside out with mild detergent. Never place the iron directly on the painted surfaces, iron either from the left or covered with a cloth.

How it is done:

  • It is best to wash the bag without fabric softener before designing so that any finishes are removed. Allow to dry and iron smooth.
  • First print out the desired text mirror-inverted with a laser printer and then cut it out. A margin of 1-2 cm should be left around the edge.
  • In the next step, put a cardboard or several sheets of paper in the bag to protect the back. Then place the motif with the printed side down on the bag and fix it with adhesive tape.
  • Now apply the textile transfer medium to the back of the paper with a flat brush to dissolve the ink.
  • Once the paper is completely soaked with the medium, the ink is transferred to the fabric with even pressure using the squeegee. Then remove the paper and allow the fabric to dry. Then seal the motif. To do this, apply Textil Protect evenly to the transferred motif with a brush. For clean results, seal only the motif itself and not the surrounding fabric. Allow to dry again.
  • The next step is to decorate the area around the lettering with floral elements. This is where the textile watercolour paint comes in. For the flowers with colour gradient, first paint on individual petals with as fine a brush as possible. If possible, do not use water, but only watercolour. Then mix a darker shade with plenty of water on a mixing palette and carefully apply a brush tip of it to the petals. The colour will flow by itself inside the petal, creating a beautiful colour gradient.
  • In this way, the bag is decorated with a pattern of flowers and leaves as desired. Then leave to dry well. Finally, fix everything in the oven: 8 minutes at 150° C. Then the fabric bag is also washable up to 40° if necessary.
