IT’S EASY WHEN YOU KNOW HOW!

  • It is really easy to create the stencil for the block printing yourself. Draw or print out your favourite design on paper, cut it out and then you can start printing using the block and squeegee.

How it is done:

  • Draw abstract shapes on the cardboard using a pencil. Create several of these stencils in various sizes and proportions.
  • Cut out the inside of the shape using nail scissors and stick the stencil onto the flat printing side using adhesive tape. Place a piece of cardboard between the fabric layers of the t-shirt to prevent the paint from soaking through. Place the screen on the t-shirt so that the flat side of the screen is on the fabric.
  • You can create light and summery pastel colours by mixing the Marabu Textile Print paints. It is best to use plastic containers and a wooden spatula or similar to ensure that the paints are mixed well. Then, use a palette knife to add the paint to the top edge of the screen in a line that is approx. 1 cm thick.
  • Next, use the squeegee to spread out the paint in a downwards motion from the top to the bottom over the design without applying any pressure. Then slide the squeegee from the top of the design to the bottom, applying even pressure, in order to transfer the paint to the fabric. You can use one stencil and shade of paint to add several prints. However, you must always use new paint and work quickly. If the pattern on the screen closes up, the screen must be cleaned under running water.
  • In order to set the paint, place the t-shirt in the oven for 8 minutes at 150 °C after the paint has dried. After fixing, the paint can be washed at up to 40 °C.
