Light grey jersey hat (up to 20% synthetic fibres)
Plastic film or paper (for the worktop or table)
Cardboard to cover the fabric
Fabric lace border

How it is done:

  • Wash the hat without fabric conditioner before painting to completely remove all residue of finishes. Then leave to dry and iron flat. Cover the worktop generously with plastic film.
  • Prepare the materials.
  • Place a piece of cardboard or paper inside the hat to prevent the paint from seeping through to the back.
  • Place the fabric lace border on the lower edge of the hat and position your hand-made ballerina stencil above it (paint the design on cardboard, cut it out and you're done!)
  • Start with Marabu Fashion Spray in Black and spray the lace and ballerina.
  • Use Fashion Spray in Plum to colour the top of the hat, creating a soft colour transition.
  • Remove the lace and stencil from the fabric and leave the paint to dry.
  • Place the fabric border and stencil (this time an umbrella) on the lower edge of the back of the hat and spray with Black and Plum. Place a small rectangle in the middle before spraying so that the hat is not coloured at this section.
  • After spraying, remove all elements from the beanie hat and leave to dry for approx. 2 hours.
  • The umbrella can be outlined with a black Textile Painter to make it stand out.
  • Decorate the rectangle that has been left blank with Textile Painter and a saying.
  • Then add small details and embellishments to the hat using Fashion Liner in Shimmer Black. Leave the hat to dry for approx. 6 hours.
  • Fixing: Iron the sprayed section from the front through a thin cloth or a sheet of baking paper for 3 minutes at a cotton setting or fix in a pre-heated oven for 8 minutes at 150°C. Check the heat resistance of the fabric first. Then the textile will be washable up to 40°C.
