Glass bottle as candle holder with Marabu YONO Marker

Especially on dark evenings or grey days, candlelight helps to easily create a warm, cosy atmosphere at home. And if you don’t have any candle holders at hand, simply make some out of plain glass bottles: painted with the YONO marker and effectively filled with grasses and water.

Note

  • On smooth, non-absorbent surfaces, the YONO Marker can be wiped off again with a damp cloth. This makes room for new creative motifs.
  • However, the durability can also be improved: simply spray the bottles with a coat of Marabu clear varnish after the paint has dried.

How it is done:

  • To ensure that the paint adheres well to the glass, the bottles should first be cleaned. They should be clean and dry so that the paint can adhere optimally. Put on gloves so that no skin grease contaminates the cleaned surface during painting.
  • Before first use, shake the YONO markers with the cap closed for 60 seconds and gently press the tip onto some paper several times to activate the ink flow. When the tip is full of ink, write on the marker on the test paper. Then draw simple autumnal shapes such as leaves or mushrooms on the glass with the YONO marker in 1.5-3 mm thickness.
  • In the second step, add details, such as dots on the mushrooms (the YONO marker with the thinner tip can be used here). Finally, complete the pattern with individual dots between the shapes.
  • Now fill the bottle with dried twigs, dried flowers or artificial autumn decorations. To prevent the decoration from floating upwards through the water later, it is advisable not to choose branches that are too short.
  • Then fill the bottle with water. This will cause the twigs to float upwards, but they can easily be pushed back into the bottle and are held under water by the candle, which is now inserted last into the bottle opening.
