Tips and Tricks

  • Test the liner on a piece of neutral paper before using it.
  • If the liner tip becomes clogged, carefully pierce it from the outside to the inside with a needle or similar object to remove any dried paint.

How it is done:

  • Cover the work surface with paper. Have a piece of paper from the pastel set and some kitchen towels ready to wipe the squeegee after each color.
  • Apply the acrylic paint directly from the tube onto the paper. Depending on the desired pattern, you can place dots of paint next to each other, on top of each other, or in a specific pattern. To cover larger areas with one color, paint curved or straight lines. Similar colors are ideal for subtle color gradients, while contrasting colors can be used to create stronger contrasts.
  • Use the squeegee to evenly smooth out the paint dots. This creates an exciting pattern as the colors are distributed and mixed. Changing the angle or direction of the squeegee will alter the gradient and structure. You can also use this technique to create round shapes.
  • The layers of paint dry quickly, so another layer can be applied and raked immediately. This process creates transparent overlays and new color tones.
  • To prevent unwanted color mixing, clean the squeegee with a kitchen towel between steps.
  • Once dry, you can supplement, highlight, or trace over the areas with a permanent marker. Fine lines, graphic patterns, and small illustrations are ideal for accentuating or enlarging the colored areas.
