Tips and Tricks

  • Our Marabu GREEN multi-purpose glue can also be used for gluing. It is water-based and ideal for gluing paper, cardboard and carton. It is best to apply the glue with a brush.
  • Glued areas can also be fixed with a clothes peg until the adhesive has dried completely.

How it is done:

  • Cover the work area well with paper and prepare the working materials. Colour the paper or cardboard with the GREEN colours as desired. Allow to dry well.
  • Then turn the painted paper over and draw a pattern of even stripes on the back with a pencil (see illustration). Then score the drawn lines with the cutter knife.
  • The next step is to glue the cut paper into a cylinder.
  • To give the lantern the desired shape and additionally stabilise it inside, individual paper strips are needed. The length required depends on the desired shape of the lantern: the shorter the paper strip, for example, the more bulbous the lantern will be. It is best to test the desired length with a ruler inside the lantern.
  • Then cut approx. 4 paper strips in the desired length and glue them inside the lantern. You can also embellish the lantern with another paper strip as a handle and decorative elements such as tassels.
