craft adhesive
glass
ruler
rounded beech sticks
needle and thread
string
iron

IT’S EASY WHEN YOU KNOW HOW!

  • If you would like to be able to wash the wall hanging, you need to set the paint. The best way of doing this is to set it in the oven for 8 minutes at 150 °C. Then the textile paints can be washed in the washing machine at up to 40 °C.

How it is done:

  • Cut a piece of fabric to the correct size from the cotton. Fold both of the long sides inwards (you may wish to use an iron to help with this) and secure using a small amount of craft adhesive.
  • Use the glass and a soft pencil to sketch out the outline of the individual moons. You can use a ruler to measure out the correct gaps between the circles to achieve a symmetrical and precise result. Leave a little room at the top and bottom as the fabric here will be used to attach the rounded sticks later. Use the pencil to draw the individual moon phases freehand.
  • Before painting, place a piece of cardboard under the fabric. Next, paint the phases of the moon using gold and black textile paint. It is best to work line by line from left to right to avoid smudging the paint.
  • After the paint has dried, insert the rounded sticks into the top and bottom ends. In order to secure the fabric, add a few tacking stitches directly above and below the sticks.
