Tips and Tricks

  • When painting cushions together with the children, protect their clothes and wear a painting smock or discarded clothes. Unpleasant stains on clothing are very difficult to remove.

How it is done:

  • Wash the cushion cover at least once (without fabric softener) before painting to remove any finishes. Allow to dry and iron.
  • Then trace the lion's face onto the cushion cover using a pencil.
  • To prevent the colour from rubbing off onto the back of the cover, place some paper inside the cushion cover. This works best with several single A4 sheets placed inside the cover so that the entire surface is covered. Then prime the cushion cover with the yellow T-shirt paint using a large, flat brush.
  • Once the yellow paint is completely dry, the details such as eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers can be painted on with the black T-shirt paint using as fine a brush as possible. Then let the paint dry completely.
  • After drying, iron the fabric from the front through a thin cloth at cotton temperature for 3 min (without steam) or fix in the oven for 8 min at 150 °C.
  • The last detail is to attach the fringed border as the lion's mane to all four sides of the cover. To do this, cut four pieces of the border to fit and attach them to the outer edge of the lion's face using textile glue.
