Suncatcher with Marabu Window Color

These suncatchers resemble classic stained glass. When the sun shines through them, they create colorful light patterns. You can easily design these mini suncatchers for your desk or windowsill on glass panes using Marabu Window Color, and then display them. The bright colors they cast create a special atmosphere in the room.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you ever want to change your suncatcher's design, simply peel the Window Color image off the glass and create a new one.

How it is done:

  • Lay out all the materials and cover the work surface to protect the surrounding area from paint. Make sure the glass panes are clean and dry.
  • You can use any motif as a template. You can print out the coloring template or draw it yourself. If you are drawing the template yourself, trace the outlines of the glass panes onto the paper.
  • Then, draw shapes using a ruler and compass or freehand.
  • Place the coloring page under the first pane of glass and secure it with tape, if necessary. During the coloring process, leave approximately 1 cm of space at the bottom of the glass (the same amount that the glass protrudes into the wooden stand) free of paint.
  • Use black contour paint to paint the contours and allow them to dry for one to two hours.
  • Then, use the various Window Color shades to fill in the outlines.
  • Fill in the contours completely by applying the paint directly from the bottle.
  • Allow the paint to dry thoroughly (preferably overnight). Then insert the glass panes into the wooden stands and your suncatchers are ready!
