Crane on canvas with Marabu YONO marker and Artist acrylic

The beauty and elegance of cranes have always fascinated people. In Greek mythology, by the way, the crane was a symbol of vigilance and prudence and was considered the “bird of happiness”. Perfect for the start of a new creative year among other things with the YONO markers!

How it is done:

  • It is best to print a photo of a crane and roughly sketch the outline on a stretcher with a pencil.
  • Create the color gradients in the background on the stretcher with diluted acrylic paint. To do this, place the desired shade of acrylic paint on a plastic mixing palette and dilute with plenty of water. Then use a brush to apply the paint to the desired location on the stretcher and let it flow. Use this flowing technique to create the delicate background of the stretcher as desired. The more diluted the paint, the more delicate the paint application and the higher the flowing property. Allow everything to dry well.
  • Next, roughly trace the contours of the crane with an acrylic paint tone and a brush. In a few places, the color tone can also be thinned here, so that at some points the color begins to flow. Allow everything to dry well again.
  • After drying, roughly design the plumage and body of the crane with individual brush strokes. Diluted as well as undiluted acrylic paint can be applied here. The mix makes the plumage very lively: the individual brush strokes look like feathers, the undiluted acrylic paint has a great texture and the diluted acrylic paint runs and fills the motif with delicate colors. Allow everything to dry well.
  • Now the YONO marker comes into play: before first use, shake the YONO marker with the cap closed for 60 seconds and gently press the tip into some paper several times to activate the ink flow. When the tip is full of ink, write on the marker on the test paper.
  • Then the contours of the crane can be highlighted again with the YONO marker and the plumage can be given structure with the YONO marker.
  • Use different YONO marker colors and different stroke styles to effectively design the individual plumage and body areas of the crane.
  • Finally, let everything dry well and hang the stretcher.
