Airy DIY Mobile with Marabu Window Color

This fine mobile plays with geometric shapes and colours and is a decorative accessory for any wall. The homemade circles and triangles of different sizes are supported by fine metal rods so that they can easily move in the wind. The transparent structure of Window Color also conjures up magical reflections depending on the incidence of light.

Tips and Tricks

  • If the painting tip becomes blocked, e.g. by dried paint residue, and the flow of Window Color is disturbed, simply twist off the painting tip. It is best to do this over a sink and remove the blockage with a pointed object (e.g. a needle). Do not press or try to remove the blockage by squeezing the painting bottles! Otherwise the tip could burst out, which can lead to unnecessary soiling.

How it is done:

  • Place a template with the desired motifs under a transparent film of pinwheel and mobile film and paint the contours with Window Color fun & fancy in the colour silver. Make sure that the contour lines are closed. Allow to dry for 1 - 2 hours.
  • Once the contours are completely dry, the inside of the shapes can be coloured with Window Color fun & fancy. Colour in the contours all the way to the edges. For the two-coloured shapes, make sure that only one half of the shape is painted first, otherwise the colours will run into each other. Once the edges of the first half are dry, the second half can be painted with a different colour. Allow to dry for 24 hours. The initially milky colours dry transparent.
  • Once the paint is completely dry, cut out the individual shapes with the scissors.
  • Then connect the shapes with the help of the needle, thread and the wires to form a mobile. To do this, first poke the needle through one end of the shapes, pull the thread through and fasten it with a knot. Then the thread is passed through the eye of the needle again and the needle is poked into the end of the next shape, the thread is pulled through and then knotted. In this way, all the shapes are joined together and finally attached to the wires.
