Slat art with Marabu GREEN alkyd paint

A disused slatted grate doesn’t have to go in the bin – with our Marabu GREEN alkyd paint, it can be turned into an original work of art. By arranging the simple motif on the slats, a fascinating art object is created that attracts attention.

Tips and Tricks

  • Dark backgrounds can first be primed with white to make the colours even more vibrant.

How it is done:

  • Cover the work area well and prepare the working materials. Clean the slatted grate if necessary and sand it a little. The grate should be clean, dry and dust-free so that the paint can adhere optimally. Before painting, push the slatted grille together and, if necessary, fix it with adhesive tape on the back so that the slats lie close together.
  • Use a pencil to sketch two circles on the lamellae. Various round everyday objects can also be used as templates, such as matching plates, cans, bowls, etc.
  • Then paint the two circles with the Marabu GREEN alkyd paints. Allow everything to dry well.
  • Finally, remove the adhesive tape on the back and open the slats.
